Greg Smith

An insightful strategist, Greg's experience spans more than two decades and several industries. He leads Padilla Speer Beardsley's agribusiness practice, recognized as one of the nation's largest independent public relations agribusiness agencies by the O'Dwyers Directory of Public Relations Firms. He also has worked with health care, medical technology, information technology and manufacturing organizations.
Greg's oversight responsibilities include major accounts, such as BASF Professional Vegetation Management, BASF Turf & Ornamental, Agri-Business Solutions and Global Ethanol. Health-related clients have included Medtronic, Park Nicollet Medical Center and Foundation, the International Diabetes Center, and United HealthCare.
A skilled researcher and communications strategist, Greg has received numerous local and national awards for campaign planning and communications management, including a prestigious Sabre Award for crisis communications.
Prior to joining Padilla, Greg ran his own marketing communications business. Greg's career also includes work as a vice president and account supervisor for two other prominent marketing communications firms.
Greg holds a master's degree in science journalism from the University of Minnesota and studied engineering at the U.S. Naval Academy. He also has served as an adjunct professor at the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, teaching public relations writing and advanced public relations courses, and at Bethel University, teaching communications management and business communications. Greg is active in the National Agribusiness Marketing Association, where he has served as president of the North Central Chapter and member of the national board of directors.
