Effective communications strategies strengthen NMDPÂ’s life-saving mission
Every year, thousands of people who've been diagnosed with leukemia and other life-threatening diseases rely on the National Marrow Donor Program® (NMDP) for information, support — and a second chance at life.
The NMDP, one of Minnesota's largest nonprofits, operates the Be The Match Registry℠, the world's largest and most diverse listing of potential volunteer marrow donors and cord blood units. Patients who need a marrow or umbilical cord blood transplant depend on the registry for a matching donor.
Padilla Speer Beardsley is the NMDP's longtime communications partner, working to increase the number of volunteer donors and raise public awareness about the organization. Padilla has successfully employed a range of strategies and tactics, from grassroots campaigns to celebrity relationships to social media initiatives.
Padilla also works with reporters daily to tell the story of the NMDP and to capture attention for its many events. Our media relations team has garnered stories about the NMDP from a long list of media outlets, including The New York Times, Wall Street Journal, USA Today, Time Magazine, CBS's "The Early Show", FOXNews.com and National Public Radio.
Partnering with Padilla, the NMDP has registered unprecedented numbers of potential donors, elevated its media profile and increased its Web site traffic. Together, Padilla and the NMDP are advancing the critical mission of saving lives.
