Engaging employees worldwide for MoneyGram

A billion-dollar global money-transfer company, MoneyGram International’s 180,000 locations in 190 countries gives customers an economical and efficient way to move their money. That wide reach means MoneyGram’s employees are spread around the world, so the company wanted its new intranet to help them feel connected wherever they work.

But employees needed to know about it and want to visit it. So MoneyGram turned to Padilla Speer Beardsley to help spur employee interest in their intranet site. Padilla quickly established an editorial team to help provide relevant and compelling content for the portal, and the Padilla team also designed a series of employee e-mails to attract interest in the intranet. Engaging topics ranged from “name-the-site” polls, in which approximately half of the company’s 1,200 employees took part, to interactive demos highlighting new site features.

Padilla continues to provide ongoing feature-story development to keep site content fresh. Since partnering with MoneyGram, Padilla’s services quickly expanded to include media relations/news bureau support, crisis-communications counsel and creative-design support. The relationship continues to grow, with plans for a media-interview training module for executives.
