John provides clients with strategic public relations counsel perfected through two and a half decades of helping organizations to communicate successfully with their publics.

His special capabilities include defining for clients how best to achieve their desired "share of voice" in the marketplace, to communicate the implications of their plans, to evaluate the impact of their actions, and to develop purposeful public relations agendas.

John entered the public relations field in 1968 as a communications manager for The Pillsbury Company. He was manager of communications projects for Dayton Hudson Corporation for a year before joining Padilla and Speer, Inc., now PSB, in 1970.

He began his career as a reporter and news editor for the Sioux Falls (S.D.) Argus Leader. Three years later, he became city editor of the Worthington (Minn.) Daily Globe, and then joined The Associated Press. He spent three years with AP, the last as a news editor in the Minneapolis bureau.

John was graduated in 1961 from Augustana College, Sioux Falls, with dual majors in English and philosophy and a minor in theater.

His professional affiliation is with the Public Relations Society of America, where he served as national president of the Society in 1995. He also is a past president of PRSA's Minnesota Chapter and a long-time member of the Counselors Academy of PRSA.
