Tom has more than 18 years of professional experience in public relations and marketing communications. Since joining the firm in 1981, Tom has applied his background in public relations counseling, planning and implementation to a diverse group of clients.
Tom has developed, directed and implemented numerous local, national and international public relations programs. He has extensive health care experience, including work for one of the nation's leading health maintenance organizations, hospitals and other health care providers. He has developed employee communications, sales, advertising and community relations programs for manufacturers, retailers and real estate developers.
For consumer products manufacturers and service providers, Tom has planned and completed new product introductions and ongoing communications programs to internal, trade and consumer audiences. He has also implemented marketing communication research, communications audits and image assessments to help clients in the communications planning process.
Tom received a bachelor's degree in communications from the University of Minnesota with an emphasis in behavioral sciences. Prior to joining the firm, he worked with the Minneapolis Public Library System public relations department and the University of Minnesota News Service.
As an accredited and active member of the Public Relations Society of America, Tom served as Minnesota Chapter President in 1993 and Midwest District Director in 1998.
Tom is a former director of the United Way of the St. Paul Area, and has volunteered for many organizations including the Minneapolis Chamber of Commerce, the St. Paul Chamber of Commerce, the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra, the American Diabetes Association and others.
