Vice President

Brian is vice president of Padilla Speer Beardsley's corporate and investor communications practice. He has more than 10 years of investor relations experience with companies from virtually all industries. Brian counsels senior management on the communication strategies related to and implications of equity offerings, mergers and acquisitions (M&A;) and image crises.

Brian joined PSB after six years of counseling in New York City. Most recently, he managed his own consulting firm, Brian A. James Consulting, which provided corporate and financial communications expertise to emerging-growth biotechnology, healthcare and technology companies.

Prior to starting his own firm, Brian was vice president, corporate and financial communications, at Edelman Public Relations Worldwide. During his tenure at Edelman, he counseled small- and micro-cap emerging growth companies on investor relations issues. Additionally he developed communications strategies for large-cap U.S. companies listing American depository receipts (ADRs) on foreign stock exchanges.

Brian joined Edelman from Burson-Marsteller where he was vice president, corporate and financial communications. He developed communications programs for American companies listing equity on foreign stock exchanges and was a member of the company's Biotech Group which advised emerging biotechnology companies on communications strategies.

Prior to consulting, Brian was the assistant director of investor relations at American International Group (AIG), a $65 billion, global financial services organization. He managed all aspects of AIG's international investor relations program and advised senior management of investment community issues and concerns. While at AIG, he managed the listing of the company's stock on the Paris Bourse and Swiss stock exchanges.

Before living in New York City, Brian was manager, investor relations at UNUM Corporation, the leading provider of disability insurance in the United States.

Brian holds a bachelors degree in economics, cum laude, from Colby College, Waterville, Maine, and has completed post-graduate study in finance and communications.
