Case Study

Building capitalization through effective investor outreach

Vital Images wanted a higher profile in the investment community. As a provider of medical-imaging software for diagnosis and therapy planning, Vital Images enjoyed several consecutive years of 35-percent revenue growth. But the $300 million market-cap company garnered limited attention from Wall Street.

Padilla Speer Beardsley helped the company assertively reach out to potential investors and expand its market capitalization. The strategy began with research to identify Vital Images' peer companies and their sell-side analysts. Padilla then nurtured relationships with key analysts through one-on-one meetings, conference calls and e-mail updates on significant company news.

We also managed a briefing for a dozen targeted analysts at a major industry trade show, where they received a product demonstration and met with Vital Images' management.

In one year, the stock price rose nearly 40 percent, to more than $32 a share, and market capitalization rose 38 percent. Institutions holding more than 100,000 shares nearly doubled.
